Doris Farmer, the owner of Heart to Heart Yoga & Healing, is an occupational therapist and yoga teacher with 20 years of teaching experience. Doris discovered early in her life that teaching is her gift and that yoga is her passion. Her way of teaching is gentle, informative, and filled with kindness and love. She guides you inward to notice what is present for you in the moment, and encourages you to honor your strengths and limitations with a compassionate heart. She teaches with affirmations and the belief that we can all learn together to cultivate self-awareness, mindfulness, and conscious communication for the benefit of all beings. She demonstrates that with continued practice you develop greater strength, flexibility, mental concentration, and the ability to allow your own inner body’s wisdom to guide you. Doris teaches a variety of yoga classes for the beginner to advanced student including gentle & restorative yoga, chair yoga, and moderate to vigorous yoga classes. She recently completed Breath-Body-Mind Level -1 Training and is continuing her yoga education pursuing certification as a Restorative Therapeutic Yoga Teacher.
Janet Longwell completed her 200 hr. yoga teacher training at the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health in Stockbridge, Mass., in August, 2013. Kripalu Yoga is a conscious practice of physical yoga postures, breathing exercises and relaxation techniques for integrating body, mind and spirit. The 200-hr Kripalu Yoga teacher training, which conforms to the national standards of the Yoga Alliance, provide Janet with a solid foundation in the technical skills needed to teach yoga safely. Prior to receiving her certificate, Janet practiced yoga with Doris Farmer for four years and experienced the transformative benefits of yoga in her own life. She believes, from her training and personal experience, that yoga awakens your inner awareness and guides you toward self-acceptance. Janet became certified so she could share the benefits and enjoyment of Kripalu yoga with others. In her class, Janet will lead you through essential breathing techniques to expand your experience of movement and posture which will help to deepen your practice. Above all, her positive energy and kindness will invite you into her class and into her heart. Janet teaches gentle, moderate and vinyasa classes.
Janet lives in Elmira with her husband and two children, aged 7 and 3, and is a stay-at-home mom.
Amani Vlasic was introduced to yoga shortly after recuperating from breast cancer surgery. She believes that while modern medicine healed what was wrong with her body, yoga focused on what was right. After eight years of practicing yoga she decided to further her knowledge by completing Kripalu’s 200 hour yoga teacher training in July of 2015. Her passion is giving to the community and believes that by sharing her love for yoga she can empower others to love and accept themselves just as they are. Amani will offer Beginners, Gentle and Moderate yoga classes. She is the previous owner of Cappy’s and is a proud mother of one son.
Arynn Brucie has been a devoted practitioner of yoga her entire adult life, which eventually led her to Mighty Yoga’s teacher training program. After much diligent training she received her RYT200 hour Yoga Alliance Certification teaching Vinyasa style yoga. When not moving on her mat you can find Arynn advocating for animals, traveling to parts unknown, or finding other creative ways to be active and break a sweat. Arynn believes movement stimulates mindfulness. She gives her faithful yogi subjects a platform to achieve connection by creating a safe space for them to feel confident in their bodies & present in their minds throughout class. Her quirky sense of humor shines through in her teaching and she promises you that you’ll crack a smile at least once before drifting off into savasana.
